Description

FEYNLAB Ceramic
Some coatings are defined by a single season of development. Ceramic is the result of more than a decade of refinement built on the foundation of the first ceramic coating ever brought to the automotive market. That history shows in the product. It is the benchmark for single-layer, high-solids ceramic coatings and has remained that way through every generation of the category.
For vehicle owners who want meaningful protection without the commitment of a long-term coating, a three-year ceramic is the practical choice. Ceramic makes that choice easy. It bonds directly to the paint surface, builds a hard hydrophobic barrier, resists environmental contamination and UV exposure, and holds a level of gloss that wax and sealants cannot match.
The Story Behind Ceramic
The lineage of Ceramic traces back to the early 2000s when FEYNLAB founder John Suerth introduced the first ceramic coating developed specifically for automotive paint. What began as a groundbreaking product category has been continuously developed and refined over more than twenty years to reach its current form.
The result is the best single-layer ceramic coating available in its class. It delivers industry-leading depth of color, gloss, and self-cleaning performance while remaining one of the more installer-friendly coatings on the market. Its single-layer durability outperforms many multi-layer systems from competing brands. In the three-year coating segment, nothing competes with it.
Hydrophobics and Self-Cleaning
Ceramic forms a true covalent bond with the paint surface. The coating follows the contours of the surface at the microscopic level, producing a continuous ceramic membrane with no gaps in coverage. That bond is what separates it from coatings that simply sit on top of the paint. Ceramic becomes part of it.
The nanoscale structure of that membrane is what drives the self-cleaning performance. Water and airborne contamination have no foundation to hold onto. Liquids bead tight, release quickly, and carry surface debris with them as they go. Panels stay cleaner between washes and require significantly less effort to maintain.
Properly maintained, that barrier stays active and consistent for the full three-year life of the coating.
Gloss and Clarity
The high film build of Ceramic adds a level of gloss that is immediately visible and remains consistent over time. The added thickness creates depth across any color without altering the character of the paint underneath. Pearls and metallics stay vivid. The coating enhances what is already there.
That same film build serves a protective function. Ceramic shields the factory clearcoat from UV degradation, which is the primary cause of clearcoat failure over time. Protecting the clear means preserving the gloss beneath it for years longer than an unprotected surface would allow.
Overcoat V3
Ceramic does not require a topcoat to perform. Its hydrophobics and slickness are engineered to stand on their own. For customers who want an additional level of slickness or extended coating longevity, FEYNLAB Overcoat is a compatible option. It also works well as a yearly maintenance topper to refresh the surface and extend the life of the coating between detail visits.
Approved Surfaces
Clear-coated painted surfaces all smooth and textured plastics (test on an inconspicuous area if unsure), Headlights and taillights, Black piano trim, Clear-coated painted wheels and calipers.
Do not apply to unapproved surfaces. Using any surface not listed above is at the applicator’s own risk.
Paint Preparation
Wash the vehicle thoroughly with FEYNLAB Pure Wash or FEYNLAB Pure Rinseless. Follow with a topical decontamination clay treatment using FEYNLAB Prime. Where embedded iron contamination is present and cannot be removed by claying alone, treat with a ferrous iron remover before proceeding. (How To Prep a Car For Coating)
Polish all surfaces to the correction level required by the client. After polishing, wipe all surfaces with FEYNLAB Panel Prep to remove polish oils and ensure full coating adhesion. Allow a minimum of 10 minutes after Panel Prep before beginning coating application.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. How does Ceramic differ from a longer-term coating like Ceramic Ultra?
Ceramic is a single-phase, high-solids ceramic coating engineered to be the best in its class for three-year protection. Ceramic is the choice for customers who want class-leading protection and gloss without the cost or commitment of a multi-year premium coating.
Q2. Does Ceramic require a ceramic primer before application?
A ceramic primer is not required. However, applying FEYNLAB Ceramic Primer before coating improves adhesion and can contribute to long-term durability, particularly on older paint or heavily corrected surfaces. It is a worthwhile addition to any installation where maximum bonding is a priority.
Q3. Can you apply Overcoat V3 at a later date if the customer decides they want it?
Yes. Overcoat V3 can be applied over a fully cured Ceramic coating. It functions well as a standalone service offered at a follow-up visit or as part of an annual maintenance package. Proper surface preparation with a compatible cleaner is recommended before application to ensure bonding.
Q4. What should be done if the vehicle is exposed to water before the 24-hour cure window has passed?
If water contacts the surface within the first 24 hours, gently wipe it away with a clean microfiber towel as soon as possible. Do not allow water to sit and dry on the coating during this period. If the vehicle must be released into wet conditions, apply FEYNLAB Hybrid Ceramic Detailer at least two hours after the final wipe or IR cure as a protective measure.
Q5. How does humidity affect the installation and what should an installer do in high-humidity conditions?
Higher humidity accelerates the curing process, which shortens the working window before leveling is required. At humidity levels near or above 75 percent, reduce dwell times and work in smaller sections to maintain control over the coating. Testing a panel before committing to a full application run is the best way to calibrate timing for the specific conditions on the day of installation.

This is an incredible coating. I’ve used a lot of coatings over the years and this one has better clarity than any I’ve used. I can’t say anything about durability or any of the other characteristics but being a Feynlab product I’m sure it’s up to par. It’s been a long time since a coating has really impressed me. This one definitely does!

Excellent coating for the money! I have installed this on several customer cars and so far they all love it! There a coatings that help with shine but this one also adds depth to the paint!
