In nature, you may have heard of the Lotus Effect. The lotus effect refers to self-cleaning properties that are a result of ultra-hydrophobicity as exhibited by the leaves of Nelumbo, the lotus flower. Dirt particles are picked up by water droplets due to the micro and nanoscopic architecture on the surface, which minimizes the droplet’s adhesion to that surface. Sound familiar?
Feynlab was inspired by this amazing show put on by nature and used this inspiration to recreate these properties in a nano ceramic coating that can produce similar hydrophobics on most any surface it is applied to.
When applied to the paint of a vehicle, these hydrophobics perform just as they do in nature, with the water beads encapsulating dirt, helping to remove it as it rolls off the surface. This, in turn, keeps that surface cleaner for longer, with its “self-cleaning” effect, and makes maintenance easier.
HYDROPHOBIC
The Original Ceramic by Feynlab has one of the highest water contact angles in the industry, making it super-hydrophobic, which helps to protect your car from the contaminants commonly found in water. This property provides your car paint with a permanent layer of protection by forming a chemical bond with it, which causes it to repel not only water, but other elements such as oils, fallout, dirt, mud, road grime, and other build-ups from daily use of the vehicle. APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
- Properly Prep vehicle by washing with Feynlab Pure Wash or Feynlab Pure Rinseless
- Clay and Paint Correct surface if necessary
- When vehicle is ready to coat, make sure it is located in a well-lit, well-ventilated area that is between 50°F – 85°F (10°C – 30°C).
- BEFORE COATING – Shake the bottle VIGOROUSLY for one minute. Then, apply enough THE ORIGINAL CERAMIC to a microfiber sponge applicator to fully cover a single panel such as a door or half a hood.
- Begin by making a “+” (plus) sign in the middle of the panel and follow that with a picture frame around the area you are coating. Next, fill in the remaining panel in straight lines from left to right and then cross-hatch up and down, making sure to create a level layer with even coverage.
- Allow the coating to sit on the panel until about 75% dry, or until you see “rainbows”, similar to an oil sheen on water. This is a good indicator you are ready to move on to the next step.
- Once you are ready to move to the next step, use a clean microfiber towel (edgeless is recommended) and remove the remaining 25% of the unevaporated coating. Use a second clean microfiber towel to wipe clear if needed. You will begin to feel the towel glide easier and easier across the surface as the product is completely removed.
- Repeat the above process panel by panel (or multiple panels if your conditions allow) until the entire vehicle is coated.
- One layer of THE ORIGINAL CERAMIC is sufficient to achieve the one-year warranty, but additional layers may be applied to areas where additional protection is desired, such as leading edges, hoods, etc. Wait at least one hour between layers, but no more than 3 hours.

PREPPING THE PAINT
Thoroughly clean the vehicle using FEYNLAB® WASH or FEYNLAB® RINSELESS. Follow with a topical decontamination clay treatment using FEYNLAB® PRIME. If necessary, use a ferrous iron removal product to remove all embedded iron deposits from vehicle paint pores that cannot be removed with a regular clay treatment.
Next, paint correct surfaces to the highest level desired by the client using a combination of FEYNLAB’s compounds and polishes. After polishing, remove all polish oils using FEYNLAB® PANEL PREP to ensure optimal bonding and durability of the coating.
DIRECTIONS
Prior to application, place vehicle in a well-lit, temperature-controlled 50°F-85°F (10°C-30°C), contamination free environment. Make sure you have plenty new microfiber towels (4 or more), a microfiber sponge or suede applicator, and plenty of lighting.
Once the car is prepped, and prior to application, we recommend taping off and protecting all unapproved surfaces. By performing this step, you minimize the risk of etching by the solvents in FEYNLAB® THE ORIGINAL CERAMIC on unapproved surfaces such as rubber lining around windows and doors. Avoid these surfaces with THE ORIGINAL CERAMIC and wipe off immediately if any product accidentally finds these surfaces.
Begin shaking THE ORIGINAL CERAMIC vigorously for 2 minutes. Open the cap and allow the product to breathe for 1 minute.
Inspect the neck of the bottle for any hardened coating crystals. Carefully clean the neck of the bottle with a microfiber towel if any appear, as these can drop on to your applicator pad, and scratch the surface during application.
COATING APPLICATION
Apply enough of THE ORIGINAL CERAMIC to a microfiber sponge applicator to fully cover a single panel such as a door or half a hood. Begin by making a “+” (plus) sign in the middle of the panel and follow that with a picture frame around the area you are coating. This helps with even distribution of the product. Now, fill in the remaining panel in straight lines from left to right and then crosshatch up and down making sure to create a level layer with even coverage.
After filling in the panel, step back and look for any runs, drips, or heavy spots. If any are found, smooth out evenly with your applicator sponge. This will ensure even drying across the panel and minimize excess product usage.
Allow THE ORIGINAL CERAMIC to sit on the panel until it is about 75% dry. This could be anywhere from 15-20 minutes depending on humidity and temperature. You can test this by lightly swiping the panel with your gloved finger and looking for moisture transfer to the adjacent uncoated panel. If the coating is not easily transferred to the uncoated panel, you are ready for the next step.
You can also look for the surface to start evenly producing “rainbows”, similar to an oil sheen on water, as an indication that you are ready to move onto the next step.
After you determine the optimal time for the coating to dry 75% on one panel, you can then determine how many panels of the vehicle you can coat at once before moving onto the leveling/wiping stage below on those panels. Take care not to apply to too many panels at once without proceeding to the leveling/wiping stage as this will make the leveling/wiping stage more difficult as the coating will have dried too much.
LEVELING/WIPING SURFACE CLEAR
Once the panel(s) have dried about 75%, take a clean microfiber towel and begin leveling the product and removing the remaining 25% of the unevaporated carrier fluids. Begin this process in the area of the panel or panels where you FIRST applied the product.
Wiping Method:Fold your microfiber towel in half, then in half again. This creates 8 clean sections total on your towel for coating removal. (You can flip the towel to a clean side once one side is saturated.) As you wipe the surface, make sure to evenly distribute the weight of your hand while keeping the edges of the towel off the surface. (Edgeless towels are always best for coating removal to avoid any unnecessary scratches on your freshly corrected surface!)
Then, with another clean microfiber towel, buff any remaining residue off until the surface is clear and glossy and your microfiber towel slides easily across the coated surface.
Note: If using THE ORIGINAL CERAMIC on black textured plastics, you may not need to wipe those areas, depending on how evenly you applied the product. Do a visual check on those areas and buff clear if you see any residue or uneven areas.
INSPECT
Be sure to carefully inspect your finished panel before moving on to the rest of the vehicle. Check all your edges, emblems and other tight spaces for any remaining product. They are much easier to remove if you catch them within 20 - 30 minutes.
REPEAT
Repeat the Coating and Leveling/Wiping steps, moving panel by panel (multiple panels if environmental conditions allow) until the entire car is coated. Be sure to briefly shake each time before use and quickly recap when not in use. Switch to clean towels when necessary and flip to a clean side of your applicator if the applicator begins to harden or picks up any surface contaminants.
LAYERING
Although one layer of THE ORIGINAL CERAMIC is sufficient to achieve the one-year warranty on clear-coated painted surfaces, another coat can be applied to any area where you desire additional protection (such as the hood or front bumper). After wiping one layer clear, additional layers can be applied between one - three hours after the previous layer.
POST APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
- Avoid any incidental water exposure for 24 hours.
- Avoid all chemicals including car washes for 7 days.
- Wash & Maintain using FEYNLAB® WASH or FEYNLAB® RINSELESS and FEYNLAB® DETAILER.

Section 3 - Limitations of coverage
- FEYNLAB INC warranties the coating systems (applicable coatings on applicable vehicles) from naturally occurring environmental damage such as tree sap or oxidation. Bug impacts and bird droppings need to be removed within 24hrs.
- FEYNLAB INC warranties that the aesthetics of the coating system on the vehicle will maintain surface gloss to a greater extent than an uncoated surface (Comparatively when maintained and cleaned using the recommendations of FEYNLAB INC).
- FEYNLAB INC warranties that the coating systems are compatible with the “Applicable vehicles”, and that the coating systems will not cause damage to the original paintwork of “Applicable vehicles”.
Section 4 - Applicable vehicles
Automotive vehicles from approved automotive manufacturers (see Appendix A) in new or used condition with the original manufacturer (or approved by the original manufacturer) paint.
Section 5 - Coverage terms
The warranty is only valid when applied by a “certified applicator” – an independent business or individual that has no affiliation with FEYNLAB or its brand beyond being an applicator and has been trained by FEYNLAB or their representative, and has the original certificate as proof. The warranty is applicable only for the lifetime of vehicle ownership and is not transferrable when vehicle ownership changes. Once the coating is applied the vehicle needs to be registered on the FEYNLAB website (www.feynlab.com/warranty) within 30 days of the date of application in order for the warranty to activate. The warranty only remains valid if the vehicle is brought in for inspection on a yearly basis within a 30-day period before or after the anniversary of the date of application, at the original certified applicator where the vehicle shall be washed free of charge. The warranty is effective 72 hours after application as to allow for full curing of the coating. The warranty is only valid if all the recommended paint correction has been undertaken by the certified applicator.
Section 6 - Accidental damage
In the event of an accident, proper care must be taken to remove all of the FEYNLAB coating to allow for adhesion of the new paint. The repaired area will need to be recoated in FEYNLAB products by a Certified Applicator, at the expense of the owner or the respective insurance company.
Section 7 - Repainted/repaired vehicles
To re-iterate Section 4, if the paintwork has been repaired to a standard that is not comparable to the standard of the manufacturer, there is a risk that the paintwork may be damaged during the application of FEYNLAB products. If damage were to occur to a repaired vehicle neither FEYNLAB INC, nor the Certified Applicator will assume any liability for the damage incurred.
Section 8 - Exclusions
- Where the owner has been deemed to be careless through a lack of maintenance (not following FEYNLAB care guidelines), or when exposing the vehicle to extreme environments
- Pre-existing damage
- Areas that have not been treated by certified applicators
- Retreated areas after a warranty claim
- Water spots caused by mineral deposits
- Manufacturer defect in paint as evidence by bubbling, delamination, orange peel, or flaking
- Collision damage, malicious damage, stone chip damage, scratch damage, force majeure damage, natural disasters or any other damage that has not been stated in the limitations of cover
- Loss of time, or use during repair or inspections
- Damage that is covered by a manufacturer’s warranty, including any third party warranty. This includes warranties that were acquired after the application of FEYNLAB products
- Where a product that is not produced or sold by FEYNLAB INC is applied over FEYNLAB products
- If the vehicle had been previously coated with another Ceramic or paint protection product
Section 9 – Adjustments
Feynlab INC may make adjustments to the warranty document from time-to-time, whereby the newest version will be updated on the website.
Section 10 – Claim liability
Claims on the warranty must be made within 30 days of the damage occurring, if a claim is made 30 days after the damage has incurred, the warranty will be void. A fee of $100 is payable to the approved applicator for the inspection of the warranty claim, if the warranty claim is successful the fee will be reimbursed. The claim approval is at the sole discretion of FEYNLAB INC. Repairs will be done at the approved applicator, or another center to be decided by FEYNLAB INC. The maximum liability of FEYNLAB INC on a warranty claim is $1000 or the cost of product whichever is less.
